I wonder if there will ever be a time when a majority recognizes that to kill - even someone who has committed unspeakable acts - will never, ever, not in a million years bring peace. It is just wrong. Even Bin Laden loved and was loved - as unimaginable as that may seem to some - and today, those who loved him feel the ache and despair that only the death of a loved one can bring. We need to own our responsibility in that - in causing them the same excruciating pain that the deaths of all those in 9-11 and since have caused us. We are soooo short-sighted, soooo ego centric...and we will stay in this cycle of violence until we realize- ALL OF US - that this is not the path to peace. I can't rejoice. Today I feel utter despair at our collective ignorance. Utter despair. When will we choose to live our lives knowing that, in reality, there is no Other? There's only Us -  and we're all connected.  To one another and to the fragile island home  we call Earth.
Imagine peace.

Well said. I was shocked to see how euphoric people were upon hearing the news of someone's death. Two wrongs do not make a right, and I too was startled that people could be so joyous over the murder of another person- whether the person was "right" or "wrong" is irrelevant, and like you said definitely not the path to peace.
Strange times we live in, eh?
